I've been guiding people to the monarch colonies of Mexico for over 20 years now, and each time I see something different--something spectacular that I've never encountered before. But this is the first time I was able to see such prolonged feeding behavior from birds that have adapted a way to actually feed on monarchs.
Monarch colonies routinely lose about 10% of their overall population to things like this, so it's perfectly natural, but never before have I been so close to the action. And I was also able to shoot it in 4k video! If you are curious about the monarch migration and want to see something truly rare to witness, check out this video for some extraordinary visuals!
While I know it can be bittersweet, it's truly a remarkable sight for any nature lover and monarch enthusiast!
I hope you enjoy and I hope you learn something today!
